LA MAISON TALULAH is style with a local ease but a global opinion. Elegance without all the effort, fashion without all the fuss. The TALULAH woman is dynamic – she is bold, she is sexy and she has something to say. Her wardrobe is only the start of the conversation.
Brisbane-born Kelli Wharton founded TALULAH in 2005. The designer quickly garnered a loyal following among local tastemakers and the brand went global in 2012. LA MAISON TALULAH has regularly appeared alongside Australia’s pre-eminent designers as part of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and inside the glossy pages of ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire and Instyle.
Having been draped over the shoulders of some of the country’s most chic women including Jennifer Hawkins, Tash Oakley, Jodi Gordon, Clementine McVeigh and Kate Waterhouse, LA MAISON TALULAH now takes its signature aesthetic to women across the globe.
Now over a decade since the brand's inception, the evolution into LA MAISON TALULAH has been a considered process, built carefully upon the ethos of effortless, elegant luxury.
The LA MAISON TALULAH objective is to deliver romance and confidence through each design, satisfying the secret desires of being the best dressed person in the room.
Each collection features a carefully curated offering of silhouettes that are both distinctive and inherently classic by design, brought to life through the use of exclusive prints, unique textiles and bold colours.
It is this solid design philosophy that has been the driving force behind the brand's global expansion.
WITH A LOVE AND TALENT FOR ART AND DESIGN FROM A YOUNG AGE, KELLI WHARTON BEGAN HER CAREER IN FASHION IN 2000 WHILE COMPLETING HER FINAL YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL. THE RECIPIENT OF MULTIPLE FASHION AWARDS FROM AN EARLY AGE, KELLI TOOK HER CREATIVE DIRECTION AND DESIGN SKILLS TO LAUNCH HER FIRST APPAREL LINE OF HAND SEWN LACE TOPS AND SILK LINGERIE, SELLING TO A SELECTION OF FASHION BOUTIQUES THROUGHOUT BRISBANE.
Kelli supported her brand line by working for a number of fashion businesses in wholesale and marketing roles, building on her business skill set to complement her design work.
In 2005, Kelli showcased her first TALULAH collection at Delfin Australia Fashion Design Awards, where she won the Mercedes Benz Lifestyle collection award. The first collection line embodied the signature TALULAH aesthetic of structured silk party dresses and floral prints, with an underlining sense of confidence.
LA MAISON TALULAH continues to sit under the creative direction of Kelli Wharton, who works with her team of design, production, marketing, wholesale and retail specialists in the beautiful surrounds of Byron Bay on the NSW North Coast.
